A GERMAN businessman who wanted to leave the corporate world behind and chase his dream of running a business has set up a plumbing firm in the Swindon area.

Sascha Hunsinger spent more than two decades in the steel and logistics industry in his home country and Belgium before moving to Wiltshire to manage a branch of the Drain Doctor franchise.

He said: “Life is all about opportunities and when I found out that this franchise was available, I knew I couldn’t turn it down.

“I was looking for a fresh challenge, and when my great university friend Adrian Sargent of Countrywide Grounds Maintenance asked me to join him here to work in the same franchise family, I seized the opportunity to dive into a new culture and turn our dream of running our own venture into a tangible plan.”

Prior to becoming a new franchise owner, Sascha spent 25 years working in logistics for a global transport company in Germany and then moved to Belgium as commercial plant manager and head of strategy for a steel plant.

Eager to leave his corporate life behind and embark on a new business venture, Sascha chose to relocate to the UK and go down the franchising route by making an investment in one of 57 Drain Doctor franchises across the country which are owned by Neighbourly. The franchisor will support and advise him in his new role.

He added: “Another key motive for moving into the drainage and plumbing sector was to find a business that was in constant demand and would allow me to deliver an exceptional customer service.

“Franchising offers many benefits from following a proven system and access to trusted people, but what ultimately drove me to this one was the professionalism, strong code of values and passion for providing quality and high standard solutions for customers.

“I am really looking forward to getting stuck in and being a key player in Swindon.”

Offering services in Highworth and Wroughton, Mr Hunsinger will be joined by his team of two qualified technicians, who have over 35 years of experience in drainage, and Drain Doctor vans equipped with high-pressure water jetting units and CCTV drain survey equipment.
