A HORSE trailer has been transformed into a pizza business.

Tom Will, 18, decided to take the leap while studying catering at Bath College.

After trawling through all the websites that sell second-hand products, he found the perfect horse box on Gumtree.

Tom, of Donnington Grove in Royal Wootton Bassett, said: “I bought it because I wanted to get into mobile foods for four or five years.

“So I had all that time to do my research, then I went to college and I got it.”

A lot of work went into renovating the horse box into his dream business, Will’s Pizza Revolution, fitting it out with a pizza oven.

It took two years for it to be finished so it could start heading out to events.

Tom said: “Me and my dad Jamie did almost everything on it, we’ve welded and painted, we built it from the ground up.

“I learned how to weld and I would never have learned if it wasn’t for this. A lot of it was trial and error because we didn’t know how to do some things.”

The pizza business will be selling regular pizzas but the offerings include some unique flavours.

One unusual variety Tom will be selling is a blue cheese topping with caramelised onion and steak.

Tom said: “I like to experiment, I’m not wanting to just do traditional pizzas. They’re made in the traditional way but with a different take on them.

“It’s all trial and error, I get my family to taste them to see what works.”

Tom inherited his passion for food from his grandad Peter, who owned a farm in north Wales.

He said: “I went on holiday there a lot and worked on the land. Working in the farm’s shop and around the food is where I got to grips with it all, I just really enjoyed it all.

“I never really enjoyed the academic side of school, I preferred the hands on approach to learning, like cooking. That with my passion for food is where I started thinking about taking this on.”

He will be setting off to serve hungry people at his first booking at a young traders event on March 16 in Cirencester.

After that he will be taking his pizzas to various Party in the Park events across the county and even the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, showcasing his food to a worldwide audience.

“It’s great for my first year, I get to meet new people and I’m building my contacts. I can see what works well and improve myself,” he said.
