A PAIR of thieves managed to steal a 32ins TV from a store by moving it near the doorway and then distracting shop staff.

The JVC smart TV, valued at £200, was carried out of the Currys store at Greenbridge Retail Park by a woman after a man, thought to be an accomplice, picked it up from the display and put it down at the front of the shop.

He then started asking the two assistants about it.

Retail manager Darrall Chapell said: “The man had been asking funny questions to distract the staff like what channels it got.

“This was quite clever really, we’re just going to have to be more vigilant and have more staff at the front of the store.

“I just want them to return that TV and I would want to give them a piece of my mind.”

A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said: “We have received a report of theft at Currys, Greenbridge, which occurred at approximately 1pm on February 3.

“A man entered the store, picked up a television and took it to the front of the store, before distracting staff. A woman who is believed to have been with the man, picked up the TV and left the store without making any attempt to pay.”
