An amber weather warning has been issued as the UK braces itself for Storm Dennis this weekend.

Swindon remains on a yellow weather alert on Saturday and Sunday but the Met Office has raised the risk level in areas of Devon and Wales for Saturday. The amber warning is close to the south of the county on Sunday.

The storm is expected to to bring very heavy rain, flooding and travel disruption over the weekend, with the prospect of power cuts and damage to buildings.

It comes after Storm Ciara battered the country last Sunday and Monday.

The Met Office warned: "Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

“Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible.”

Advice for the amber warning adds there is a good chance some communities could be cut off by flooded roads and that fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely – causing a danger to life.

The warnings continue until Monday, but are north of Swindon.
