A SCHOOL has returned to Good after its most recent Ofsted inspection.
Shelf Junior and Infant School, in Shelf Hall Lane, was visited by the education watchdog on January 21.
The report was released on February 14.
It outlined that new headteacher, Jill Elam, has played a major part in the school's improvement.
She is "convinced that every single pupil can succeed. She has made sure that all staff believe this too.
"This means that pupils are now doing much better, especially in reading, writing, mathematics and science."
Staff also go the extra mile to know and understand each pupil very well, with relationships between the two being "warm and caring".
One parent said: "My daughter is a very happy young lady who thoroughly enjoys going
to school."
But some areas still need improvement, including staff following the teaching sequence in foundation subjects fully and finding out ways to make sure pupils read different genres at home.
Shelf Junior and Infant School was rated Requires Improvement after its last inspection, back in 2017.
