A TEENAGER was stabbed by a bandana-wearing robber in a scuffle over his backpack.

Detectives have released pictures of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attempted robbery.

Wiltshire Police said the victim, a teen boy whose age has not been released, was standing outside a house on Albany Close, Walcot, at around 4.30pm on Wednesday, January 26, when he was approached by a cyclist.

He did not know the man, who had his hood up and was wearing a bandana.

The cyclist demanded the boy hand over his backpack. When the boy refused the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim – wounding him in the hand and abdomen.

The pair scuffled before the attacker rode off.

Det Sgt Justin Downes said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this incident in broad daylight.

"Something like this is bound to concern people in the local community and although the victim didn't know the person who attacked him, we believe he was targeted.

The suspect was described as white but tanned, aged between 16 and 19, tall and of average build.

He had black or dark brown hair that was short but wavy on the top and brown eyes. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, black gloves, a black hooded top, which he wore up, and a black waterproof jacket. It is believed that he was wearing a bandana.
