A GROUP of young female students came together for an international day championing women in industry.
Students from Shipley College and Keighley College met with peers from other institutions at Hitachi Rail Plant, in Newton Aycliffe.
They marked International Day of Women and Girls in Science, last Tuesday, by discovering the roles available to women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
This included meeting female Hitachi staff - representing roles such as Design Engineer and Test Engineer - and finding out about their journies into their current job.
The students - who study a variety of subjects from Biology to Electrical Installation - also had a factory tour.
They were able to see some of the trains that are currently being manufactured.
