SCORES of firefighters were at the scene of a flat fire on Saturday (February 15) for more than three hours.

Scores of firefighters arrived at the scene in South Street at around 10.42pm following calls to a fire at a vacant property.

Crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Dee Road, Whitley Wood, Wokingham, Bracknell and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Whitley Wood and Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead were sent to the scene, alongside four officers.

Upon arrival, crews found a fire on the ground floor of the building.

Ten firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reels to extinguish the fire.

They then used a fan to ventilate the area, and were on the scene for more than three hours.

A fire investigation officer will be investigating the cause.
