THE Swindon Male Voice Choir is celebrating its 100th year with the latest in a series of centenary celebration concerts.

The Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh will be performing at the Steam Museum on Saturday, March 28 as invited guests of the choir.

The concert, starting at 7.30pm, is a charity fundraiser for SSAFA, the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association.

Concert secretary Gordie Smith said: “The band will take the stage in the Great Western Hall to present a variety of musical styles and genres to provide a most entertaining evening of very high quality music, not to mention a spectacular presentation by the Corps of Drums.

“Members of Swindon Male Voice Choir are delighted to be able to take the stage with this world renowned band, singing their own music and joining with the band for several uplifting combined items.

“This will be an excellent concert, staged in the town’s widely-praised Steam Museum, part of the old Railway Works where the choir first assembled and sang 100 years ago.”

Tickets are still available at £12.50 each. Call 01793 822495, email swindonmalevoicechoir@msn.com, or call the Steam Museum reception on 01793 466626.
