More community programmes will be coming to South Swindon thanks to a new partnership with Swindon Town Community Foundation.

At a full meeting of the South Swindon Parish Council it was announced the two organisations would be creating a working group that will be charged with developing community programmes throughout the parish.

Chairman of the parish Chris Watts said: “I would like to thank the Foundation for hosting the meeting and presenting to the council and members of the public.

“I felt it was important to ensure that all at the parish have an appreciation of the scope of the community engagement of the Foundation.

“The hard work and achievements that have been realised by the Swindon Town Community Foundation are unparalleled in Swindon in recent times.

“The new home of the Foundation, although obviously having football in the community at its core, provides unrivalled facilities for the athletics club and various sports and community groups, giving the space to thrive in an inclusive, inviting and open door environment.

Jon Holloway, head of the Foundation, added: “Swindon Town FC Community Foundation is looking forward to working with, and supporting the parish council with developing an exciting new youth programme that will offer more opportunities for the young people of Swindon.

“Foundation Park will be a great central Swindon venue to host some of these activities that will engage and inspire the next generation.”
