House prices dropped in the Cotswolds in December, new figures show.
But the drop does not reverse the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area achieve 0.7 percent annual growth.
The average Cotswolds house price in December was £383,616, Land Registry figures show – a 1.7 percent decrease on November.
Over the month, the picture was worse than that across the South West, where prices increased 1.3 percent percent, and the Cotswolds underperformed compared to the 0.3 percent rise for the UK as a whole.
Over the last year, the average sale price of property in the Cotswolds rose by £2,500 – putting the area 24th among the South West’s 36 local authorities for annual growth.
Owners of terraced houses fared worst in the Cotswolds in December – they dropped 2.0 percent in price, to £300,463 on average. But over the last year, prices rose by 0.3 percent.
First-time buyers in the Cotswolds spent an average of £290,200 on their property – £1,300 more than a year ago, and £47,600 more than in December 2014.
