Four Cirencester College students have come up with a new business idea to help GCSE students – and they hope it will become a reality.

Their entrepreneurial idea, Tutor Together, aims to offer a specialist tutoring service to Year 11s in the area for a reasonable price.

Oscar Pearce, Molly Scrase-Kings, Rishi Rodway-Anand and Tarun Rodway-Anand came up with the scheme, which was picked to be part of the Tycoon Enterprise Competition.

Molly is the managing director for the project while Rishi is head of finance, Oscar is head of operations and Tarun is head of marketing and sales.

Molly said: “The scheme will build on my existing leadership skills, and will encourage me to work hard and see the project through. I’m excited to get started but also quite nervous.”

Rishi added: “The idea of running a business really excites me. It’s something I want to go into in the future and this will be really good practice for me. I’m also looking to study business at university so this will hopefully give me a taste of what it will be like.”

The tutoring will be delivered by the group, who are familiar with GCSEs having recently taken the exams themselves. All tutors have received a high grade in the subject and will be DBS checked prior to tutoring.

The group’s tagline is ‘Offering an engaging, structured and affordable tutoring experience’, something they hope will be delivered throughout the tutoring sessions.

This is their entry into a national enterprise competition for students aged six to 18 organised by a foundation set up by Dragons' Den star Peter Jones. Groups put forward a business plan and are given a grant to set it up if the idea is chosen.

At the start of February, the team submitted a business plan and an accompanying video to the competition which outlined their ideas.

Within two weeks, the group heard they were successful in being chosen to represent Cirencester College.
