Wootton Bassett Road is open again after gas works caused delays this week.

Wales & West Utilities carried out the work, which started on Monday, and said it was essential to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses.

Mick Gallavin, project manager for the works, said: “We’re delighted to have finished this upgrade scheme and want to thank everyone who lives and works in the area for bearing with us while we worked hard to complete this essential work.

"While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Swindon and the surrounding areas.

"Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

"This work will not only keep the gas flowing safely and reliably today, it will also help make sure the gas network is fit for the future and can play its part in delivering reliable and affordable green energy."

This is the second project to be completed by Wales & West this week with Gipsy Lane and Bridge End Road reopening after five weeks.
