THIEVES have tried to steal a pump intended to tackle flooding in Wroughton, it has been revealed.
Perry’s Lane has been shut for a week after Storm Dennis left the road underwater.
Now, borough councillor Brian Ford has said a pump on loan from the Environment Agency has piqued the interest of thieves.
In a social media update, Mr Ford said: “Whilst the water level has dropped it still needs the Environment Agency’s pump.
“There is a borough council officer on site at all times to monitor the situation.
“Unfortunately, there have been at least two attempts to steal this pump and so it is clamped in place as well as other security measures. The police have been informed.”
