DANCE crews who train in Chippenham have danced their way through to one of the largest international street dance finals, the United Dance Organisation Street Dance Championships, after a sparkling performance yesterday (Sunday).

Dance teacher and owner of Xpression StreetDance, Diane Prior, said: “The young performers now have the opportunity to compete against teams from across the UK in Blackpool later in the year.

"Crews and solo performers came away with multiple awards from the regional championships. Under 14s crew Baseline Beasts beat seven other teams to achieve first prize as well as their place in the national finals.

"Newly formed under 18s crew Authentic8 also gained a place at the finals, coming third in their first competition performing together as a team. Asha Bew was awarded sixth place in the under 16s solo category and Harry Blagdon came third in the under 12s solo category.

“I am extremely proud of all my dancers and both my crews, their energy, passion and commitment, is amazing. Regardless of placements of both teams, I’m most proud of how encouraging they are of each other and how much they pull each other up as a team. I can’t wait to see what’s in store next."

Xpression StreetDance welcomes dancers aged from eight upwards which runs in Chippenham, Corsham, Calne and Devizes. The company teaches street styles such as hip hop, breaking, locking, popping and house and Diane strongly believes that, with the right teaching methods, anyone can learn to dance.

Baseline Beasts and Authentic8 qualified for the finals after competing in a regional heat held in Swindon on Sunday.
