A full-time Post Office service has been restored to Purton for the first time in four years with the opening of a new branch.
The village's post office closed back in February 2016.
Since then, a mobile branch has provided an interim service on Tuesday afternoons which was operated by the Postmaster for Cam.
At last, a new brick-and-mortar branch opened inside the Co-op on Station Road yesterday - right where the old one used to be based.
Post Office spokesman Mike Ball said: “We are delighted have restored a full-time Post Office to Purton.
"The branch has extended hours which means that the branch is open from early until late seven days a week.
"We want to thank the Postmaster for Cam for providing the mobile Post Office services while we worked on reopening a full-time branch.”
There is now a service point next to the supermarket's checkout till.
Available services for customers include bill payment, cash withdrawals and foreign currency, postage, and home shopping collections and returns .
In total, the new branch will be open for 105 hours a week, from 7am to 10pm every day.
