A DRIVE to cut down on the amount of litter in south Swindon will take place at the weekend.
Parish councillor Zachary Hawson, who represents Nythe, Eldene and Liden, is hosting two community litter picks on Sunday, March 8.
The first session will be between 10am-12pm, with volunteers meeting at Eldene Community Centre.
The afternoon session will see volunteers tidy up Park South between 1.30-3.30pm, starting at the junction between Whitbourne Avenue and Shaftesbury Avenue.
Gloves, black bin bags, litter pick-up sticks and bags will be provided. Sensible clothing and footwear are encouraged.
Councillor Hawson, who has been organising litter picks in the area for the last three years, said: “I think it is great to be encouraging people to get out and help make their communities cleaner and generally nicer places to live.”
