THE stage version of the hit film Legally Blonde is on at the Theatre Royal Bath and among the stars are two little dogs.

The high energy musical, which runs from March 10 to 14, features music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. It won three Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical, following its West End debut in 2011.

This time it is staged by Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society directed by Steve Blackmore.

One of the most acclaimed amateur companies in the region it has a cast of 35 performers, aged from 19 to 63 years, who hail from Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol, Somerset and Gloucestershire.

Joining the cast for this production are Lola, a Pomeranian who plays the role of Elle’s pooch, Bruiser and Sammy, a rescue dog from Dorset who is beautician Paulette’s dog, Rufus.

A social parody in pink Legally Blonde follows the transformation of California Girl, Elle Woods, as she tackles stereotypes and snobbery when she applies to Harvard Law School in pursuit of love. Equal parts hilarious and heart-warming, this fun-filled, feel-good musical is guaranteed to leave audiences with a spring in their step.

The lead role of Elle Woods is played by Serena Dunlop, love interest Warner Huntington III is Grant McCotter and Alana Turnbull plays the role of Paulette Bonafonté, a beautician who befriends Elle.
