More than 100 trees will be planted in Royal Wootton Bassett this weekend.

People will be taking their spades and shovels to Stoneover Lane to get the job done.

The town council and the Royal Wootton Bassett Environmental Group are working together to plant the 132 trees in the area.

A spokesperson for the town council said: "What could be better than filling unused green space with lots of trees?

"We will be planting a mix of Wild Cherry, Silver Birch, Rowan, Crab Apple, Goat Willow, Blackthorn and Hawthorn, all of which will provide fantastic habits for birds and insects while helping reduce atmospheric c02 levels.

"It won't be a long day but please do bring warm and wet weather clothing, gloves and sturdy footwear."

It's on this Saturday and registration is at 9.45am behind Shelley Avenue.

The planting will begin at 10am and equipment will be given out but the council has asked for any spare spades and shovels to be brought.
