RESIDENTS have hit out at the state of Pinehurst Road.

A pothole six inches deep is the latest to open up just past a speed bump in the middle of Pinehurst circle, causing problems for drivers crossing towards Beech Avenue.

Gemma Hedges, who lives in Pinehurst, collided with the hole when driving across the circle on Monday evening.

“When it's dark the circle is a trap!” said the mum of two who was on her way home from her parents in Rodborn Cheney.

Gemma had her daughters in her Ford Galaxy at the time.

“You only see it once you’re actually on the bump and by then it's too late. The pothole is unavoidable,” Gemma said.

She is concerned that the state of the road is causing a danger to road users and worries about bouncing onto the wrong side of the road when hitting one of the potholes.

“It has a knock-on effect,” she said. “You swerve to avoid it which is instinct, and this adds more dangers.

The pothole didn’t cause any damage to her car this time but Gemma is anxious about the effect of the damaged roads on her vehicle.

“We haven't had the car long. We buy nice cars to support our family and keep them safe but you don't expect the road to be that bad,” she said.

The hole, which was filled in on Tuesday night, is in a spot which has seen many repairs before.

Gemma continued: “I go through this road every day and at least one pothole is opening up again after being filled. It's not good enough. Something else needs to be done.

"They do fill the holes up rather quickly but they are unravelling just as fast.

“If anything I avoid the middle of the circle now as I don't want to put my family at risk,” she added.
