Meetings to plan this year’s Penhill Carnival have been postponed due to concerns about coronavirus.
Volunteers had been gathering at the John Moulton Hall every fortnight to plan arrangements for a potential event later in the summer.
Councillor David-Oladapo Ibitoye, who represents Penhill and Upper Stratton, has been leading the charge behind reviving the annual summer fixture.
He said: “I have recommended to the group that we should postpone our face-to-face meetings.
“All discussion will be done via email and communities will be updated via social media platforms. This is in order to be cautious for our volunteers’ safety. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
The potential event on Penhill sports field has not yet been completely written off, but may fall foul of government measures to contain the virus.
