The Big Breakfast Plus club has closed it doors due to concerns over coronavirus.

Based at The Haven on Queens Drive, the club had provided a free cooked breakfast to anyone sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation between 7.30-8.30am.

The charity has identified over 850 individuals using the service in the last two years.

However, citing the Public Health England guidelines for days centres, the organisation said it has been asked to stay away from The Haven.

A spokesperson said: “Our guests are being looked after but we have to step back temporarily from providing breakfast ourselves.

“Public Health England published guidelines for day centres on Monday which Swindon Borough Council and Swindon Night Shelter need to ensure are followed.

“The Haven is open all day as usual from 9.30am Monday to Friday to support the homeless and those vulnerably housed but all other organisations hiring the building have been asked to stay away – and that includes us.

“We’ll use this opportunity to focus on planned volunteer recruitment – not just for breakfast services but an events team so that we can get out there and spread the word/fund raise as soon as we all get over this unprecedented situation.”
