GATES to Coate Water have been reopened this morning – although it’s not clear who has done it.
The double gates leading to the country park’s car park were locked on Saturday by the council after Wiltshire Police raised concerns about a large number of people driving to the lake on Friday flouting coronavirus lockdown advice.

One gate was open on Sunday morning. A lawnmower and other household waste have been dumped nearby.
A police officer was parked up in a patrol car shortly before 10am.
The Adver understands the gates were not opened by the police.
