A SWINDON-BORN actor who battled an eating disorder in his teens is doing his bit to help others get fit and healthy.

It was only when Tommy Hatto joined the acting world in 2012 that he was able to beat the condition.

Now he is using his experience for the benefit of those stuck at home during the coronavirus lockdown.

The actor, who was talent spotted by Dustin Hoffman, played Lili Reinheart’s love interest in Hustlers and has modelled for GQ and Ray-Ban. And he worked with Samual L Jackson on The Last Full Measure.

“Growing up in school I was never really in the best shape. I was overweight and not into fitness at all,” the ex-Kingsdown pupils said.

“When I went to college I decided I wanted to make a change, but I didn’t know how to go about getting into shape.

“I just started running and exercising all the time and cutting everything I was eating.

“Looking back at it now it was very unhealthy, I didn’t realise the damage I was doing. I was very skinny and I ended up with an eating disorder.”

He managed to turn his life around with the help of fitness instructors and will pass on what he has learned on a new website offering people personalised plans with exercises and nutrition.

Tommy, who also had a bit-part in Thor: The Dark World, said: “I’ve been working with my team for the past six months on developing this platform.

“It contains elements of exercise, nutrition and mindfulness. I’m very into fitness and I’m fortunate, especially at the moment, that I have a home gym. So this will help those stuck at home to be more creative.”

It’s not the first time Tommy has used his personal experience to help others.

Last year, using what he had learned about the impact of audition rejections and knockbacks, he wrote a book entitled In This Skin.

A podcast on health and fitness is also in the works at the moment and is expected to launch soon.
