A MAN and woman have been left with serious injuries after being attacked in their own home.

A suspect in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident in Ham. Police told the Gazette he is the son of one of the two people attacked.
The woman in her 60s found with multiple injuries at the scene is his mother.

She was found by paramedics with a man in his 70s, who had multiple injuries, inside the address on Cutting Hill.
Crime scene investigators were called to the scene, and were expected to be there for several days while forensic work was carried out.
Police officers were called to a disturbance at the house in the rural hamlet of Ham near Shalbourne, a few miles from Marlborough, on Monday evening at 7.30pm.

Force helicopters circled the scene casting spotlights in and around the house before landing in a nearby field.
The woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries where she remains in a critical but stable condition. The man was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon and is in a serious but stable condition.
The suspect, who is from Hampshire, remains in custody at Gablecross police station in Swindon for further questioning.

Ham resident Rosie Hawkins told the Gazette: “There were a lot of police cars and helicopters were circling for some time.”
“We didn’t know what was going on. It’s so quiet here usually.”
Det Insp Mark Kent said: “We can confirm that the man in custody is known to the two victims and this is being treated as a domestic incident.
“We understand this news will undoubtedly cause concern at a time when there are high levels of anxiety within our communities. Please be reassured that there is no wider risk and we are conducting enquiries in relation to this incident.”
