The Honda plant at South Marston will shut for at least another week as the coronavirus lockdown continues.

The Japanese car giant announced last month that operations at the Swindon factory would stop and the plant close until April 6.

That closure has now been extended for another week until Tuesday, April 14.

In a statement the car manufacturer said: “Following updated guidance from the government regarding the coronavirus pandemic, Honda of the UK Manufacturing informed its associates and suppliers that it has extended the suspension to its production operations to Tuesday 14 April.

“This will be reviewed in line with further ongoing advice from the government as well as market and supply conditions.”
