THE number of people who died in England after testing positive for coronavirus has shot up by more than 400.
The total for the country now stands at 4,897 after a rise of 403 since the previous update.
According to the NHS, the patients were aged between 52 and 94 years old - and 15 of them had no known underlying health condition.
Out of the 403 people who died, 27 were in the south west.
The figure for the whole of the UK will be available later today.
