HUNDREDS more patients in England hospitalised with coronavirus have died.

NHS England announced that 765 people who tested positive for the virus have died.

This brings the country's total up to 7,248.

Of the 765 new confirmed hospital deaths, 140 occurred on April 8 and 568 took place between April 1 and April 7.

The other 57 deaths occurred in March, including two on March 19 and one on March 16.

The patients were aged between 24 and 103-years old, with 43 of the 765 patients (who themselves were aged between 33 and 99 years old) having no known underlying health condition.
