A £15,000 grant from Wiltshire Freemasons will help fund home visits for children with special educational needs.

The money will go to charity Wiltshire Portage to fund regular home visits for four extra families each week as part of the organisation’s Waiting List Programme.

More than a hundred families of children with learning disabilities across the county get a weekly visit from Portage

The grant from Wiltshire Freemasons comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation, which is funded by Freemasons, their families and friends from across England and Wales.

Kim Hannay-Young, service manager at Wiltshire Portage said:“We are most grateful to Wiltshire Freemason for their generous grant, which will help us to offer support to more children and reduce the length of time that they have to wait for this help. Children only get one chance at getting an education and we want to make sure they can take full advantage of it.”

Des Morgan of Wiltshire Freemasons said: “I’m very pleased we’ve been able to help Wiltshire Portage who do such an outstanding job helping families who have children who have special needs with their education. Giving these children the support they need at the earliest possible time is crucial in helping them to make the most of their time at school.”

The grant cash is from the Masonic Charitable Foundation, which is funded by Freemasons and their families across the country.
