As the weeks of lockdown go on trying to find the positive, morale boosting angles of the news is definitely getting harder.

It is a very sad situation. Every day hundreds of families start the grieving process because of this virus. I know what they are going through. Just before the lockdown came in my mother passed away. I know what it is like to be struggling with bereavement while you’re also struggling with living in lockdown.

While the cases of infection can increase exponentially, the positive news stories increase, at best, in a linear fashion. That is why I believe that, more than ever, it is important to find the things that can make us feel lighter.

Have you seen how clear the air is? It feels like I can see for miles because of the lack of cars and planes pumping out mess into the air. If I could get high up enough I’m sure I could see all the way to Europe, which would cheer the Flat Earthers up.

It feels like we now have a greater respect for people who train, study, work hard and dedicated themselves to saving lives. Whether it’s NHS workers or people working in care, we have learned how important they are.

Do you remember the banking crisis in 2008? They were bailed out because they were so essential but I don’t remember standing at my window clapping for five minutes because someone bravely turned up to an office and still took their bonus at the end of the year.

What about Captain Tom Moore? He’s the hero who, at the age of 99, walked around his back garden to raise money for charity.

Thanks to that man putting in more effort than most of us will ever do, there is £25 million helping NHS charities. It was also good to read that the police didn’t turn up to tell him he can’t use his garden for sponsored walking.

People are talking about the possibility of closing roads in Swindon. While that would cause difficulties it would mean I’d have a good reason to avoid the Magic Roundabout. After much practice I can get across it now, I just don’t end up leaving on the exit I wanted.

While the families members lost are a large source of pain, I have seen the kind of heart warming and supportive comments people have been posting on social media.

Facebook posts, tweets and comments online had become a place for nasty, snide massages. If our time dealing with coronavirus brings out the better side of us,

I’m feeling more positive already.
