A TIMBER supplier has partly resumed work at its Wiltshire sawmills.

When the country went into lockdown on March 23 many businesses closed its doors or put things on hold.

Vastern Timber cuts and produces logs made of different woods including oak, ash, sweet chestnut and sycamore.

It is now operating again from sites at Royal Wootton Bassett and Calne.

Managing director Tom Barnes said:“We are very pleased to be back, although it’s not business as usual.”

The company is in its fourth generation and has more than 50 employees.

Last Wednesday the two sites started processing orders. But Vastern Timber isn’t allowing visitors. It is either delivering or inviting customers to collect.

Tom said: “Safety is our first priority, so please bear with us as we adapt to the guidelines on social distancing at work.”
