ONE further Covid-19 death was recorded at Salisbury District Hospital yesterday.

Confirmed by Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, this means the total number of those who died after contracting the virus now stands at 51.

A spokesperson from the trust said: “Sadly a total of 51 patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 have died at Salisbury District Hospital.

"A woman in her nineties, with pre-existing health conditions, died on May 14.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

According to the latest Government figures, updated at 2pm today, there are 902 cases of Covid-19 in Wiltshire. Broken down, there are 491 cases in the Wiltshire Council area and 411 in the Swindon Borough Council area.

In hospitals across England a further 186 people passed away after testing positive for the disease, with 26 of these cases in the South West, bringing the death toll in English hospitals to 24,345.

Patients were aged between 15 and 99 years old. 10 of the 186 patients (aged between 30 and 94 years old) had no known underlying health conditions.
