THREE men broke into a woman's home last night, stealing items from a safe in front of her grandson.

At around 10.30pm on May 18, three men forced entry into the home in Aldenham Close.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, and her grandson were present at the time, as the offenders demanded access to a safe.

They stole cash, laptops and a quantity of family gold before leaving the scene in a silver vehicle.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

The first offender is described as around 6ft tall, wearing a dark hooded jacket with the hood up and dark tracksuit bottoms.

The second offender is described as around 5ft 7ins tall, also wearing dark clothing, a hooded jacket with the hood up and tracksuit bottoms.

The third offender is described as around 5ft 5ins tall, wearing dark coloured trousers and a hooded top with the hood up.

A 30-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft.

He is currently in custody.

Investigating officer, detective inspector Rich Jarvis, based at Reading police station, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victims and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have any information about what happened to come forward.

“It is fortunate that no one was injured.
