FAMILIES looking for fun book-themed activities to do during lockdown should visit Swindon Stories' facebook page.
Following a series of storytelling sessions on The Gruffalo, hub manager Anish Harrison is hiding books around Swindon to encourage families to take part in the challenges.
The books are in a plastic bag, responsibly sanitised and left for three days before being passed on.
Kayleigh took part in the hide-and-seek activity and found a copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She said: ‘What an amazing idea. We found this book yesterday. We will thoroughly enjoy reading this."
Roald Dahl-themed challenges will be uploaded to the National Literacy Trust’s Family Zone every fortnight.
The challenges are loosely based around the books’ plots but families don’t have to have read them to take part.
Each challenge is linked to a room or space in the home to encourage children to think creatively about their surroundings.
