CURRYS PC World is starting a new order-and-collect service at its Swindon store.

Customers can buy items online and pick them up from the Greenbridge Retail Park outlet as soon as an hour after purchase or the next day, depending on stock levels.

Chief operating officer Mark Allsop said: “We will be piloting a limited zero-contact order and collect service from today across 20 of our UK stores.

“Customer and colleague safety is our highest priority. We’ve implemented social distancing and hygiene measures to ensure that colleagues can feel comfortable in coming back to work and so our customers feel safe to visit us.

"Once at the store, customers will check-in online on their mobile device with their order details and a Currys PC World colleague will deliver directly to their car, or a safe designated pick-up zone.

“The products available for collection will span laptops, domestic products, TVs and printers, plus many more important tech items. Once you have placed an order, customers will receive an email once the item is ready to be collected safely.

"We will be following government advice on the reopening of our stores. When we do, we will be prepared to open so that our customers can shop for their important tech in-store safely and with social distancing measures in places.

"For now, this trial will allow us to review demand, and test viability of expanding this service outside of this select group of stores while we await the Government’s green light to open further”
