IT has been a very windy Bank Holiday weekend in the district with even this T-Rex struggling with the elements.

Darcy Dino, who has been spotted around Thackley, Shipley and the Cote Farm Estate over recent weeks, suffered in the blustery conditions on Leeds Road yesterday, hanging on to a railing.

Julie Morley, who can now be revealed as the person inside the inflatable dinosaur costume, says she had to laugh when she saw the video back in the windy conditions.

She has been dressing up as Darcy and touring parts of the district, answering requests for personal appearances to give birthday messages.

She works as a bereavement officer for Bradford Council and says she gets as much satisfaction as those who see her out and about as Darcy Dino.

She said: “Normally I don’t go out in the costume when it’s windy, but I had two birthday visits to do and didn’t want to let anybody down.

“I had to chuckle myself when I saw that video.

“I bought the costume for Easter to cheer the kids around my estate, but it didn’t arrive in time.

“When I did arrive, I went out one night and it went from there.

“I am dealing with a lot of upset and grief in my job in the funeral industry at the moment.

“Dressing up as Darcy is hard work. It just lifts my spirits as well.”
