AN unprecedented call to prayer over Bradford has taken place today to mark Eid.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, mosques across the district are closed to congregations.
But to mark the day Bradford Central Mosque in Westgate held the call for prayer to urge people to stay at home and be safe.
Ishtaq Ahmed, Council for Mosques spokesman, said: “Usually we would invite people to come in congregation to the mosque.
“This way of doing it still gives unity and reminds people to be safe in their homes.
“This gives the message of care. We are not able to mark Eid in congregations as we normally do every year.
“This is more of a symbolic thing to say that we recognise that these are special times.”
