A new hand and surface sanitiser spray supplied through a Swindon company is being used on coaches around the country.

MWC, which has a factory in the town, worked together with Barnes Coaches to ensure passengers and drivers are safe during their journeys.

The company normally distributes and manufactures joinery but when one of its adhesive suppliers added a new product, MWC decided to help launch it.

The non-flammable multi-purpose antiviral anti-bacterial mist spray sanitiser PTC XtraSAN that will be used on Barnes’ fleet of 40 minibuses and coaches to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

MWC claims that this sanitiser is more effective than alcohol-based ones and kills up to 99.9999 per cent of germs within a minute of being used, as well as creative a long-lasting protective dry film on skin and surfaces.

It says the product is safe for children because it contains no alcohol or hazardous ingredients and can be dispensed through bottles, aerosols, pressurised pumps or spray arches that people walk through when entering and leaving buildings.

Business development employee Rob Wooldridge said: “We identified early on that it wasn’t just hand sanitiser which is key to beating the coronavirus but the need to reassure staff and customers that all environments and surfaces are safe.

“Vehicle interiors have been one of the key markets we have concentrated on.

“There is a lot of discussion about the return to work and school. Both businesses and schools need to act quickly, yet effectively to adopt safer working environments to safeguard their staff, customers, and children against the spread of the coronavirus.

“We are ahead of the curve in supplying solutions to these issues.”

It is hoped that the product will be used in other workspaces during this crisis.

Matt Barnes from Barnes Coaches said: “We were looking for a way to efficiently but safely sanitise our coach interiors in readiness for the children going back to school and going forward as travel picks up. This multi-purpose sanitiser meets all our needs and suits all our applications from one source.”
