WHEN Angela Fox placed a notice in the T&A's Would Like To Meet section in 1992, she didn't know who she would meet.

But in a rom-com like series of events, she received a letter from Stanley and they began sending love letters back and forth.

As a newly single mum-of-two, Angela recalls being nervous as she waited for the mystery man to arrive at the cinema to watch Mel Gibson's Forever Young.

"Because I had two young children I was very guarded," Angela said.

"We started writing to each other and the next step was to ask each other for a photo.

"I sent photos to him and I didn't hear anything back. I didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks and I was young and fiesty and I just thought, 'How rude! Fancy not even writing back!'.

"I then sent a letter saying 'If you're not going to respond, I've sent my photos and at least you could send the photos back'. But he had gone away on a two week skiing holiday!"

Sharing his side of the story, Stanley said: "It was all a bit comical!"

It only took two years for the pair to marry and now Angela and Stanley are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary together in lockdown.

The pair, who live in Eccleshill, are proud parents to James, Adam and Charlie, who was born in 1998.

When asked for the secret to their success, Stanley said it's the three C's: Communication, compromise and creativity.

Angela said: "It's just so amazing having all that history and all the things we've built together.

"We are happier than ever and although our celebration plans are on hold we will celebrate in style when we can.

"We went to Linton Falls for a posh picnic and a lovely walk on the river. Our youngest son who returned from uni a month ago was with us. We received some beautiful cards, gifts and messages.

"We spoke with or saw each of our boys and feel incredibly lucky inspite of the current situation- we have so much to be thankful for!"
