AN ARMED robbery at an industrial estate led to a police chase of a stolen lorry that ended when an officer shot a man in the leg.
A man in his 50s has been airlifted to hospital for treatment with a leg wound but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Wiltshire Police received a report of an armed robbery in Rivermead Industrial Estate in Westlea just after 5pm.
A man with a handgun stole a lorry which armed police then intercepted in the Ridge Green area.
One officer then discharged a weapon. Nearby neighbours heard the gunshot.
Police and ambulance crews are still at the scene.

Superintendent Phil Staynings said: "I want to reassure the community that this incident was dealt with swiftly. Nobody else was injured and the incident is now contained.
"However, people living in the area will have seen a heavy police presence, which will continue throughout the evening.
"Due to the fact that a police firearm was discharged, we have automatically referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct."
