Peace and Love

I was interested to read your news article (Thursday 18th June) about Commonweal pupils returning to school after the easing of lockdown restrictions..

However, one phrase in the Headteacher's comments startled me.

"We want to get them in the right 'head space' for September."

Have I missed something? Has there been a time slip back to 1967, and is the school being run by a member of the Woodstock generation?

I think we should be told.

Peace and Love, man!

Why no quarantine?

As an Octogenarian, I consider myself blessed with a lifetime of accumulated general knowledge and common sense.

The following, however, has defeated me.

So, hypothetically, my wife and I have just enjoyed a trip abroad by air. Upon returning to the UK - as UK citizens - we have to self-isolate for 14 days. Current government policy.

But, M. Macron the French president has no such restriction, apparently breezing through Heathrow en route to talks with various dignitaries.

Mr Johnson, please explain; too much for my simple ‘country’ mind to comprehend.

So many questions

I am somewhat perplexed why so many Journalists etc, who pose questions to the government at the evening briefings, seem so intent on putting the government down and at times, ask the same questions over and over again.

Even opposing MPs make statements like, “The government has failed on this, failed on that etc, but do they have the answers, No!

This pandemic, has never been faced before, so who knows the Best Practice!

We have to make decisions and amend them based upon the information gathered!

I think that the government has done a good job, but on reflection, we could have done better at times.

How could they foresee the stupidity of some people who thought that they knew better than the scientists etc, whose advice many people failed to observe, including the Social Distancing advice?

More attention has been paid to protesting and destroying statues etc, than the sensible approach to improve the well-being of us all.

Surely the government departments are working to make life better and some MPs are probably ‘out on their feet’ and very tired!

Who knows the best way of preventing a ‘Second Wave’?

How would the ‘Know Alls’ manage this present situation?

Who can tell?
