1. 'Everyone deserves to be remembered': Man behind street tributes talks of love for the town

Reading Chronicle:

Reading artist Danny spoke to us about why he creates the beautiful tributes he leaves in town.

The 40-year-old, who goes by 'Danny Street', was responsible for the heartfelt tribute drawn in the centre of town after the death of PC Andrew Harper and, more recently, a touching drawing honouring the three men killed in the Forbury Gardens attack.

2. Reading coronavirus situation revealed as outbreak control plan approved

Reading Chronicle:

The council has reassured residents there is no current spike in cases, after approving a local outbreak control plan for the town.

The Reading Covid-19 outbreak control plan was approved on Tuesday via a decision book by the council’s chief executive Peter Sloman, in consultation with Cllr Graeme Hoskin, Reading Borough Council’s (RBC) lead member for Health.

3. Jury visits West Berkshire scene of PC Andrew Harper's death

More than a dozen uniformed police officers stood silent guard as jurors visited the place where PC Andrew Harper died in the line of duty.

Blue silk posies tied to street posts marked the area where the 28-year-old Thames Valley police officer fell after being dragged more than a mile behind a car on the night of August 15 last year.

4. Several Reading town centre roads have now re-opened as terror attack probe continues

Reading Chronicle:

Two roads were re-opened 11 days after the shocking terror attack which rocked Reading.

Police remain stationed across the town as investigations into the killings of James Furlong, 26, Joe Ritchie-Bennett, 39 and David Wails, 49, continue.

Officials said last week that a high police presence can be expected by residents for some time.

5. Two Reading gyms close following lockdown struggles: town responds

Reading Chronicle:

Local gym-goers have been left 'really sad' by the permanent closure of two major Reading gyms.

Gyms are not reopening under government guidelines this week, although pubs, restaurants, hair salons, hotels and other businesses will be opening again on July 4, with new restrictions in place as lockdown is eased.

Simply Gym, in The Meadway, Honey End Lane and Caversham Health and Fitness, based on Archway Road, both announced that they would not be able to reopen.
