STONEHENGE is just one of the English Heritage sites reopening to the public today, as lockdown measures begin to ease further.

But you will not be able to experience the stones without booking a ticket in advance, even if you are an English Heritage member.

This is to make sure the number of people onsite is limited, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing measures in place.

Once at the monument visitors can stay for as long as they wish. Those visiting are also encouraged to walk to and from the site, with the shuttle bus prioritised for those who really need it.

Kate Mavor, English Heritage’s chief executive, said: “We have really missed our members and visitors while our sites have been closed.

"Whether you’re looking for a fun place for the family to let off steam or just a wide open space to appreciate those familiar landmarks which have stood the test of time, we’re looking forward to giving you a warm and safe welcome back.”
