The Waitrose store in Wichelstowe has reopened its cafe on a trial basis.
Social distancing measures have been put in place, including ground markings and perspex screens, but the self service coffee machine is still out of order until they can be safely used.
The company said the use of the trial will allow testing of the best measures that can then be used in other cafes across the UK.
A statement from the company said: "We're looking forward to welcoming guests back to the cafés reopening as part of this trial.
"This initial period will give us time to test and learn how our cafés function with new social distancing measures in place to ensure they are as safe as possible both for our Partners and guests and we're optimistic about reopening further cafés across our estate soon."
