People assume that greyhounds are always energetic and exercise-junkies, but one recently retired-racer is proving that wrong.

Banjo officially retired from greyhound racing last month and was given to SNDogs to find a new home to suit her laid back persona.

She’s currently being fostered by Clare Clarke, who said: “She’s quite shy but still likes being around people. She won’t demand affection until she knows you.

“She is very lazy and likes snoozing – that’s her favourite thing.”

Because she’s an ex-racer, Banjo hasn’t been inside a house very much. When she first arrived to Clare she was cautious, but eventually found the sofa was the perfect place to nap.

Despite being lazy, the greyhound instinct remains in Banjo.

Clare added: “She doesn’t seem to understand dogs that aren’t greyhounds. She’ll interact with other greyhounds but if she sees little dogs or if they’re moving fast then she’ll get really excited.

“Anything small or furry she gets really excited. But when that’s not going on she’s really calm.”

Clare believes that Banjo would be happy to be left alone and feels a family with older children would be best, but admitted she wasn’t sure how she reacts with small children.
