DETECTIVES are on the hunt for the owner of a musical instrument following a suspected burglary in Reading.

The owner of the mandolin is asked to come forward after the item was found dumped in the Whitley area.

Police said the owner has not reported the mandolin missing.

At about 2pm on Wednesday, July 8, officers attempted to stop a man cycling down Canterbury Road with an instrument case.

The case was then recovered by officers on Barnsdale Road with the pictured mandolin inside.

Police are appealing to find the owner so that their instrument can be returned to them.

A post on Thames Valley Police social media page, said: "We are appealing to find the owner of a mandolin that has been recovered following a suspected burglary in the Whitley area.

"The mandolin has not been reported missing, so we are appealing to find the owner so that their instrument can be returned to them."
