A GARAGE blaze in Ferndale was started deliberately, police believed.

Fire crews were called to the scene after a suspected arson attack in St Mary’s Grove at 1.13am yesterday.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 1.20am by the fire service about a fire at a garage in St Mary’s Grove, Gorse Hill.

“Nobody was injured, but the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

“Nobody has been arrested but enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 12 of July 13.

The fire was caught on camera by Adver reader Hermínio França Oliveira Junior.

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Rescue said: “We were called to St Mary’s Grove, Gorse Hill at 1.13am this morning, where a detached garage at the rear of a property was well alight. 

“Two crews attended, from Swindon and Stratton, and a hose reel jet and main jet were used to extinguish. The stop came at 2.16am. It is believed the fire was started deliberately.”
