Play areas in the St Andrew's parish of North Swindon have reopened to the public after being closed for more than three months.

The Brook Park, Bridlewood, Highdown and Eastbury Way play areas have been cleaned and signage has been put in place explaining the new rules.

The new guidelines, posted on the gates to the parks, includes advising people to avoid the park if it's busy, minimal use of tube slides, playhouses and tunnels as well as no shouting.

The St Andrew's Parish Council has also asked parents and children to sanitise their hands before entering and after leaving the area.

The opening of the play areas was actually delayed by 10 days. The government gave the go-ahead for them to reopen on July 4 but the parish felt more work needed to be done and staff needed to be trained.

Councillor Vince Williams, chairman of the play areas and open spaces committee, told the Adver the parks have been checked over and disinfected before reopening but the public will need to use their common sense.
