A dispersal order is being put in place surrounding Abberton Reservoir, Colchester, after issues with nuisance vehicles and dangerous driving.
There has been a number of ‘car meets’ in the area over previous weekends where people living nearby have reported vehicles being driven dangerously as well as complaints about noise.
Police have information that another event is planned to take place there this weekend so to prevent any further issues a dispersal order has been put in place.
It will be in place from midday today until 6am on Monday 20 July.
Inspector Jon Evans, from the Colchester Community Policing Team, said: “We’ve put this dispersal order in place reacting to concerns from the public.
“When there have been car meets here previously we’ve had reports of vehicles racing along the road which obviously presents a significant risk to people’s safety.
“This order will allow officers to order people to leave the area if it is necessary to remove or reduce the likelihood of anti-social behaviour, crime or disorder.”
