The Swindon Designer Outlet has said it highly recommends people wear masks during their time at the centre.
It added that masks will be mandatory in an individual store but stopped short of making it compulsory in the centre overall.
A statement from McArthurGlen said: "The health and safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to us.
"In line with the latest Government update, Swindon Designer Outlet would like to advise that as of Friday 24th July, a face covering is obligatory in stores and highly recommended while in centre.”
The Brunel, an indoor shopping centre in the town centre did not comment when asked what the mask policy was for entering the building.
Shoppers will have to wear masks when visiting any shop or public building by law from today.
